Personality
Sara is an energetic woman, with a big heart and a voice to match; entirely suited to be the proprietor of a tavern. Though she can oftentimes be perceived as too direct in her manner of speech, she means well and especially honest to those she cares about.
Her directness however can also result in impetuousness, especially when her blood pressure rises; leading to consequences she is not wholly prepared for.
History
The sole daughter born to a Tusar merchant family, a great number of the Ilmaliks moved to Koben to ply their trade during her childhood years. Sara grew up in a happy, familial environment of her parents and relatives, and spent much of her time helping around the family business; which she found profound joy at the kitchen which doubled as the Ilmalik’s side venture in the form of a rest stop canteen for merchants to have a comforting home-styled meals as they discussed business.
At 18 Sara joined the Koben Military out of admiration and gratitude for the Empire and the life it had bestowed upon her family. She served the Koben military with exceptional service and loyalty, steadily rising up the ranks as a career soldier. However her direct personality caused much friction with the officer cadres and she was deemed unsuitable to rise above the rank of a Sergeant, eventually set aside as a drill instructor. Despite this Sara still found love in instructing cadets and instilled many young Kobeners with the distinct combination of fiery passion and familial-care; which gained her significant popularity amongst the younger recruits.
This tenure however did not sit well with upper who deemed her particular instruction methods and personality as a corrupting element to the new generations of Koben soldiery. Eventually Sara was reposted for active duty across the empire to quell with dissidents and rebels who railed against the Koben monarchy. While she proved to be a capable soldier and leader in action, gaining notations for further progress within the military hierarchy; Sara grew disillusioned and questioned her experiences during these years. Questionable commands committed in the name of the Empire fouled her admiration of her country and emperor.
One night, surviving the aftermath of a battle, with years of loyal service to the military - she left without a word; as a deserter and traitor of Koben.
The vastness of the empire made sure that Sara could easily avoid the notice of authorities as she travelled across the continent, and she eventually boarded a ship bound for Amedra. The hustle and bustle of the port city offered her the opportunity of a life far removed from her past in Koben, where she gained employment as a chef's assistant in a humble tavern called “The Beached Whale”. There she spent her time under his tutelage, finding purpose again in serving warm meals to hungry patrons. The old chef passed her the deeds of the canteen when he decided to venture beyond the shores of Amedra for one last grand adventure and Sara promised to improve her skills waiting for his eventual return.
There she can be seen always ready to serve patrons with a jovial smile and sisterly enthusiasm, comforting many with her home-styled cooking. Thanks to the local regulars and entertained by the tales of passing adventurers, Sara gained a degree of contentment in her small corner of the world; while this direction may not be the life she expected or planned for, it became something Sara has come to love.
Current Story
Sara joined Guen’s crew in her departure from Amedra and shuttered the Beached Whale temporarily, unwilling to let her go on an expedition without proper meals to sustain their adventure.
Little did Sara know that her journey away from the coasts of Amedra would leave the Beached Whale to its fate…
