Growing up with a mad woman had shaped him to who he is today. Regardless of staying by his family's side till the very end, Navin was never pleased of having his life being directed by his grandmother's crazy delusions, thus seeing the world with a lot of pessimism and doubts. His personality reflects all the rational and pragmatic views that his grandma lacked. To him, The world is a place full of imperfections that just can't all be fixed. Such thoughts often bought more pressure and uneasiness on himself. On the bright side gained from his up-brining, the half-elf learned to take care of those around him almost instinctively.
Most of his past employers are found his attitude: assiduous at work and sensible at bargain. He is sincere and honest in his words and action, thus making himself pretty easy to be read. In combat, he could be a reliable fighter, bold in his attacks. Yet as for acquaintances, his straightforward words could be too much for some people. Some words could off as harsh, but the half-elf usually mean no harm. Navin find fake smile and sweet talk as waste of time. To him, everything is better to cut straight to the point, thus ofte resulting in his lack of etiquette.
History
Navin was bought up by his tailor grandmother Nila in Estraude. Nila was not an ordinary grandparent figure, as she spent more time engrossed with her own irrational plans than paying attention to Navin. She used to tell the half-elf all the time, that someone from the other side of the ocean will take them back one day and reunite with her true family. As a child, Navin couldn't fully comprehend the woman's random mumblings. Instead, he learned more from the neighbors' words. Nila was described by others as a mad woman, full of delusional thoughts. She stubbornly believed that there will be a place out there which happiness awaits her in Kingdom, an absurd idea that sprouted from her memory of the stories her own parents once told her. The gossips from the neighbors also informed Navin a lot about himself: he is the illegitimate child between a man of high status and a regular housekeeper. Although not raised under the best circumstance, the half-elf enjoyed his short yet peaceful days. As time gone by, the old woman made it difficult for them to be welcomed at a set place for long.
They moved their way around different areas in Estraude, then eventually out of the Elvish state with the savings Nila had accumulated over the years. The half-elf soon realized the old woman's ultimate destination is the western continent. The young man was reluctant to leave his home at first, but gave in as Nila urged him on. The old woman's health was not in the best shape, and he pitied his only family member. Through the years moving around, the half elf helped out with miscellaneous manual labor for extra savings till they saved enough to afford their travels to Amedra.
They arrived at a whole new place with no known friends, and the old woman was finally at peace. Her eyes shut forever in the following year, leaving the half-elf alone in the port city. The immigrant quickly joined the armada when reaching the qualified age for the job, hoping that offering himself to his new home will allow him to blend in smoothly. However his heart never felt fully comfortable fighting for the Kingdom, thus he spent quite a lot of times in Amedra's taverns to contemplate his own life choices. Navin found it harder to serve in the military as the tension between two sides intensified, eventually leaving the armada in search of a new lifestyle. Unemployed, he picked up any jobs he could fine around Amedra, including acting as escorts or any other works that requires physical labor. A friend he made back in the military even introduced him to work on an airship, giving the half elf his first chance traveling up in the sky. Eventually someone from his previous ship approached him and recruited Navin on a private merchant ship. A new sky ship that's about to sail sounded like an opportunity for him to set himself within a group if he joins from the start, thus accepting the invitation. Together with the new crew, he stayed on the SS Pristis and working as a crew of the freelance merchant ship.
Since the coronation of the new king, Navin disapproved many of the Kingdom's aggressive decisions, including the use of poison in their attacks, maybe it was out of his sympathy towards those who might had helped him in his earlier years. With smooth words, Rayne persuaded Navin to carry out his plan during the expedition to find the Ley Elk. He never felt that the Kingdom was his true home, and he chose to follow the Pristis crew for whatever direction the captain will lead them to. He lend a hand with the slaying of the Ley Elk and got teleported to Estraude, a familiar place to him. The crew eventually met up with him and they are now temporarily staying at Estraude until they figure out their next steps.
Current Story
Navin and the rest of the Pristis took a hit from the fall during the Irirdus quest. He heard talks of people looking for the Generals in his time of resting, and considers his position. The cynical part of him doubted about the idea of risking for the quest. Seeing the dire state of the world, he questions if that was enough for him to stay around. He can stay with his crew, but if they are no longer devoted to the task, he sees very little reason for him to stay. Instead, Navin looks to return to Estraude for a rest.
