Despite all the trauma Seo’s gone through, deep down she’s always hopeful that things will take a turn for the best. In her opinion, even the darkest, longest tunnels have a light at their end, and all it takes to reach it is perseverance. Always the adventurous type, fancying freedom over captivity, the second she had her first taste of it she never looked back. Often choosing “The road less traveled”, she believes it’ll lead to a story worth telling. Where good company helps sometimes, a good adventure does her wonders and can make the gray skies go away. Despite all that she’s gone through--or perhaps because of all that she’s gone through--Seóras is quite the kindhearted, helpful individual. Instead of becoming embittered with the universe for always doing her wrong, she used the experiences as a motivational force to try and always help those in need. Even when she’s at her worst, she’ll figure someone else must have it worse than her and still do her best to take care of their needs over her own. While she often offers kindness, she doesn't readily accept it; she trusts her own intentions but can’t be sure of others'. Thanks to too much time spent in captivity, she’s gotten wary around new faces, and after years of being used for the gains of others, she’s developed something of an automatic belief that if a stranger is trying to do her any kind favors, they usually have an ulterior motive. She often finds herself shirking off anyone’s kindness--especially that of a males--because of her wariness.
While she’s willing to help with others’, she has an inability to face her own problems. Instead of fighting against unfair and even torturous treatment, she sits there and takes it all-- especially since she feels almost powerless to stop or change things. She turns to religion and believing in powers and beings higher than her that might be able to intervene in her life. Seóras has always favored living in her own world over facing real problems, making her a dissociative person overall. She’ll draw away from the company of others to be with herself when she needs the time, and in those moments she daydreams and imagines herself living a life totally different from what she’s been stuck with. While it does wonders for improving her mental state, it also distracts from many responsibilities she needs to keep up with, and while they range from mild to heavily important, they are all not without their consequences for forgetting. She’s insecure about the fact that she’s a dark elf living undercover in the Estraude, despite the fact they're somewhat less Xenophobic than those in the Kingdom were.
History
Seóras was raised by her mother alone, having never met her father. The day she was conceived was a one night stand, but she chose to keep the child. She was told many stories about what her father was like anytime she asked about him: dashing, suave, and quite the charmer. Though she never got to meet him, she always felt as though she had learned enough of him through her mother’s starry eyed tales, and eagerly awaited the day that he might return--something else her mother often said he would do.
Then again, perhaps the reason Seóras was so enamored with the stories of the free minded, free spirited travelling charmer was because it was easier to live in fantasy than it was her actual life. She and her mother lived in a run down apartment in one of Song-Lu’s poorer districts, living life by every small little coin her mother could gather. She wasn’t particularly skilled in any aspects save that of her own body, and the last thing she wanted was for her daughter to end up like her. In the months prior to her birth, she had struck many deals and bargains, racking up a lot of debt to get all the necessities a growing girl would need, and for a while everything seemed alright. Unfortunately, her plans didn’t work out too well for the impatient collectors, and just before she turned 12, her mother’s life was taken as punishment. They went through the apartment, taking anything of value, and once they happened upon the child of their debtee, they took her immediately, forcing her into labor to pay off her mother's debt. While she was still young it was more menial tasks than anything else, and while that would have been the ideal long-run set up, once puberty hit they decided to move her to bath house and brothel work, taking advantage of her pretty face.
After a nightmarish 3 years spent using her body to earn money, Seóras experienced a particularly bad night with a client, taking to the streets in nothing but a nightgown, praying for some kind of miracle so she wouldn’t have to go back. The gods answered almost immediately, in the form of the First Mate of a ship who happened to catch her sprinting by the docks. She begged him to help her get away, and without a moment's hesitation, he brought her to his ship, just in time for them to set off from the port. Though the First Mate helped her away from land, she was still extremely wary of him, and she was right to be as he expected something in return for his “chivalry”. That, however, was quickly and quietly put to a stop by the Captain of the ship. He treated her more like a woman in need of help and safe passage, instead of just a “pretty little thing”, and for the briefest of moments, Seóras was reminded of the dashing captain from her mother's stories. She thanked the man for his help, and though she intended to get off the ship at the next port, riding out in the vast, open ocean grew on her very quickly, one thing led to another, and she was granted special permission by the Captain to stay if she could pull her own weight.
Years of smooth sailing went by--she practiced and honed her abilities in magic, eventually settling on a path that would most benefit the ship: Wind Magic. Her life was turning out like she’d always hoped it would, but every great adventure story must come to a close, and hers did when the Captain found another love interest--a permanent one this time. Little more than a year later, the crew went their separate ways. Seóras went to Linhythe, offering what help she could as a Wind Mage to other sailors where she could. A couple years later, her old Captain reached out to her and others, calling for all hands on deck at Song-Lu for one last trip in their ship. Unable to resist temptation, Seóras went over immediately, but wasn’t expecting the life changing event that’d take place on their journey. Their ship was attacked by an old, skilled rival crew, and Seóras witnessed the blow that was sure to end her Captain's life. Rather than allowing her to stay and help, he sent her off the ship to safety--somewhat forcibly--with the help of one of his familiars. Devastated by the loss, Seóras only managed to send out one letter to inform his family, and she did the only thing she could think of to cope: buy strong glamours, and get as far away from the ports as possible. This excursion landed her in the outskirts of Belport by the forest, and without a second's hesitation, she set up camp there, camp eventually leading way to a home. She lived there comfortably for some twenty years, even taking up work at the ports again, and helping an old friend in need when the time came. However, after the war began and hit Belport and Valsk hard, it was all she could do to help as many civilians--including her friend--escape the doomed town, before getting captured herself. For a year, she lived in terrible conditions, and though she prayed for a miracle to save everyone, it didn’t actually come until more than a year later--and for her, in a form most unexpected. During the Kingdom’s attempt to take back the Northern Colonies, her old ally from her sailing days managed to find her among the prisoners, taking her to safety aboard the ship she was now servicing--the S.S. Pristis. Though her mental and physical states were rather awful, Seóras devoted herself to helping with the ship and its crew in any way she could, if it meant never having to set foot on land again.
Current Story
After her whole falling out with Pristis/Stormdrake, she took away to Estraude and, thanks to Aalok and Eomann's generosity, found herself a place to stay. For the first time in a while, she felt like she was with a crew she could call family, and not be scared of them finding out what she was and shunning her for it. A family of lost or broken souls, just like her... And after recovering from the loss of her arm, she set out to try and repay Aalok's kindness, in the form of assisting with the search for the mysterious 6th goddess of fire... Time to show others that they needn't be scared of a few unusual changes her body was going through--she was still her, and still dedicated to helping out this leader who'd done so much for her!
Following a botched tunnel search for aforementioned mysterious 6th goddess, one recovery from her journey into the otherworlds later, she was on the crew of people looking for who sent off those poor Estrans and killed one of the Estran church. That didn't end terribly well either, with her and Aalok falling for a trap and kidnapped to be used in the schemes of Ex-Inquisitor Vide. She ended up powerless to protect herself and Aalok, and after being knocked out by a nasty burst of magic, she awoke to find Vide dead, and Estraude in shambles, overrun by twisted beasts that were once citizens. She Joined up with Karan and Aalok to close a particularly vicious portal, acting as the Men's bodyguards, in a sense. Only thing making this hard was the fact that they asked her not to kill them....
Additional Info
Blossoming: Nails, Lips, Tongue/Gums, Eyes & Eyelids
Wind Wizard (Competence in/with telekenises, but limited to a range of about 50ft. ie she can put things out to that distance and bring them back(with a bit more difficulty the further the object is), but if she launches anything past 50ft it's gone bruh)
She's Moriel’s half sister
She’s a hella good whistler
Her previous Captain and savior(and father) was none other than Urûvion himself; she sailed with him for 56 years
After the crew came back together for one last trip, Seóras was 76
Urûvion knew Seo was his daughter, and he'd always meant to tell her, but he never could find the right time. Instead, he just kept her at his side and tried to be there for her where he failed to for the first 20 years of her life
She was the Second Mate and co-navigator of her previous crew
Since her mother didn't want her falling to the same fate as herself, she often encouraged her to hang out with the neighborhood boys, dressing her up to look more male than female
She still has and wears that keepsake necklace her mother had gotten from Urûvion("When you look at it, think of me~ ;^ )"); she passed it down to Seóras about a year before her death.
Has had to re-learn how to write since the arm she lost was her dominant one. Her handwriting wasn't great before, but it was a great deal better than what it's like now.
She has both her arms again though!! Thanks to generous assistance from Karan, Boloma, AND Aalok (after some guilt tripping for the last person), she's been fitted with a rune-etched Prosthetic. (Unfortunately she was without an arm for so long she's become dominant with her left hand now and is having to re-learn things with her right... including writing... )
