Miras

Cobalt Cup

14 Feb - 28 Feb 2015

Spring is arriving in Miras, and with it comes the largest pegasus race held in the Kingdom – the Cobalt Cup. Initially restricted to an aristocratic audience, the racecourse now comprises a 4-mile stretch through the air above the city itself, with the start and finish lines in two major public parks. Where once only nobles could attend this social and sporting event, now Miras – and the Kingdom – at large are invited put on their best hats, newest spring fashions and come see (and place bets on) the colourful array of pegasi racing across the sky.

Of course, not everyone in the Kingdom can view the race first-hand, but that has not stopped it from becoming popular all across the land. Outdoor tea parties mimicking noble life are held widely on the day and the tradition of wearing fashionable hats has blossomed into an informal competition to have the most fantastic – and often ridiculous – hat upon your head. Then, at three hours past noon, everyone holds their breath as they watch or listen to the race unfold – via scrying mages or whisper trees – in the capital.

Features: Flowers, ribbons, feathers, pseudo-aristocratic decorations, tall hats, cakes, tiny sandwiches, formal clothing, champagne
Colours: Blue, white, gold
