The Unsinkable
13 Apr - 18 May 2025
The soft opening of the docks has provided the city of Linhythe with a glimpse of its newest facelift. The port city now boasts a plethora of modern technologies in its cleaner, safer waterfront, and can call itself home to yet bigger and better ships than ever before. The grand opening reveals the reason for this significant expansion: the newest innovation in steam ships is unveiled. The towering black boat has no sails and no paddle - it cuts through the surface of the ocean with no visible propulsion.
A 21-gun salute is fired in honor of the Empress upon its reveal, accompanied with many speeches on rebirth, resilience, and other such political posturing that explains the significance of this ship. Despite the initial uncertainty around the future of the organization, the new and improved Wissen Fellowship has invented screw-propeller steamships which significantly decrease the cost and time it takes to traverse the open ocean - proof that the Empress is investing in things that benefit the people rather than lofty academic abstracts. After months of testing, construction, and endless efforts from the government and friends to fundraise, the IMS Droste is finally ready to cast off on its maiden voyage to Salolo Bay, a tourist beach hotspot, in Estraude.
For a month, the ship is open to tour for those who don't wish to undertake the actual voyage - visitors can view the technological and alchemical marvels that make this great metal contraption tick, or peruse the first, second and third class cabins and see the luxuries and amenities on board. For those who wish to escape the frigid weather of Linhythe for the coastal beaches of Estraude, what normally would've been a 7 day sail is now slated to be a 3 day journey, with the first outbound departure scheduled for 29th Stars.
Features: Self-guided tours of the IMS Droste and the voyage include: on board amenities such as library, casino, spa, band, gym and dining hall. À la carte for touring visitors, second and third class passengers; All inclusive for first class. Upon arrival at Estraude: beach episode. Sea sports, rum, fishing, hibiscus and coconuts.
