Winter Wonders
15 Nov - 14 Dec 2025
It's been a remarkably cold winter in Miras this year, filled with blankets of glittering snow near the mountains and specks of frost in the fields of Carmena. Midway through the month of Mirrors, the season presents a new feat: a vast swathe of Ebur Lake, the grand lake that borders the capital city, freezes over into solid ice. While it's not unusual for small parts of the lake to freeze every year, the scale of this one is exceptional; a once-in-a-lifetime occurence.
Excited, people come out in droves to see the majestic frozen waters. It doesn't take long for it to become a hub of winter activities - ice-skating flourishes, from children playing tag to couples looking for new date ideas; a pop-up market of mulled wine and hot snacks springs up on the ice itself; magical lights are arranged overhead to create beautiful, floating displays once dusk falls. In a burst of rare opportunity, visiting figure skaters from Belport put on a dance performance, while clumsy but fun attempts are made to learn Valski ice sports. For as long as this rare winter wonderland lasts, the Mirians will make the most of it.
Features: People walking or skating (or faceplanting) on the ice, colourful stalls, floating lights, hot cocoa and wine, families out in the day and couples in the evening
