Clover is a shy and quiet child. He likes to do as he is told and avoid trouble, and has neither the stamina nor courage for most social interactions. More often than not, he goes silent in conversations and physically shrinks away those who approach him. He is easily spooked, intimidated or overwhelmed, especially by unfamiliar things, and is very quick to tears. On the other hand, he has not a shred of aggression in him and never gets angry or destructive. His manner is always soft.

Beneath his nervous shell, Clover is kind, creative and curious. He has a very active imagination and is full of ideas, though he is usually too timid to act upon them. Instead, he has taken to putting his thoughts down on paper as drawings. He is careful and thorough with everything he does, meaning he is slow to completion but can achieve a surprisingly meticulous result if allowed to go at his own pace. To the few people he trusts, he can be very tactile, clingy and earnest, though still never particularly good with words.

History

Clover was found in a paddock near Fenwall village, in southern Cantor. With nothing to identify him or his origins, he was taken to the local orphanage and named after the patch of clovers he was picked up from. It was quickly noticed that he was unusual - hair and skin too white for a human, easily burned when playing outside in the sun - but the orphanage simply did its best and raised him alongside the rest of the children. Fenwall was very small but closeknit so, although the orphans' lives were modest and strict, they were relatively well-cared for.

When Clover was about 6 years old, a strange light struck him suddenly one day as the sun was rising. He was immediately plagued with visions, much to his terror, that seemed to then come true. Only a few days later, the royal military appeared on the orphanage's doorstep asking to take him back to the palace, where his new prophetic dreams could be monitored and protected. Overwhelmed by everything that was happening, Clover refused to cooperate with the soldiers - until he met one particularly easygoing one. Letting his guard down upon seeing Eoghan's (very exciting, to Clover) drawings, Clover let himself be befriended and finally went along with the soldiers without having a meltdown.

His sudden new life in the royal palace of Miras was very frightening. He was treated well though and the presence of many others like him - young, white-haired, vision-struck - was some comfort. The White Oracles, as they were called, gradually became his new family. Visits from Eoghan were the highlights of Clover's life and he picked up drawing as his own hobby too. Peace returned for a while, but months later things would sour in the palace. Prophecies began to dwindle, and then oracles began to disappear. Clover didn't understand what was going on, but eventually there was a night of sudden violence in the palace, in which he and many of the oracles were taken away to Amedra.

The change was, again, terrifying, but the odd freedom that followed was unexpectedly nice. Clover gets to spend more time with Eoghan now, gets to wear more different things and see more sights. He is slowly growing used to living each day as it comes instead of following a set routine, and it has its pros and cons.

Current Story

Peace remains ever tenuous. As much as the adults try to shield him from the world, and as much as he doesn't really understand what is going on, Clover has felt the unease around him. He has been especially anxious since Eoghan and many others left on an important mission, but held onto the comfort of his former-palace friends. A simple day at the market, however, ended in fire and terror when a mysterious bird-like creature rampaged through Amedra and snatched up Princess Marise. Nerves too frayed to venture far outdoors since then, Clover waits and wishes for everyone to return.

Additional Info
  • Clover's exact age and birthday is unknown. He was handed to the orphanage in the month of Seeds so, for simplicity, his birth date was recorded as the 1st Seeds, and his birth year was estimated from his appearance.

  • Clover loves dresses. His austere upbringing  makes him unable to ask for anything fancy though, so he usually wears plain frocks, aprons or long coats.

  • He used to hate wearing a hat all the time outside because it made him even more different from  the other kids. After a nun cut a sunhat into a four-leaf clover shape though and declared it his lucky item, he has adored wearing that hat. It's always with him.

  • He still doesn't like wearing glasses for the same old reason, but his eyesight is getting to the point he can't avoid it.

  • He eats very slowly. His bites are small and he chews a lot.

  • He's growing his hair out, though he's not sure at this point if he wants to mimic Eoghan's (coolest) or Lorelei's (prettiest). His interest in hair accessories is on a steady rise.
