Day of Fire
10 May - 23 May 2015
Fate, it seems, will give Tusa no respite. In the midst of the fallout from the Tusa Scrying Tower's destruction and scorching heat, Tusar meteorologists anticipate one of the strongest fire-wind storms in years to hit the city on the 18th Seeds. The consequences are dire - these massive tornadoes of extreme heat and fine sand can set cloth on fire and erode buildings. Anyone unlucky enough to be caught in it faces death. Even a survivor will suffer terrible burns, maybe even permanent loss of voice and smell from breathing the fine sand. The city must prepare even as they and the rest of the Empire come to terms with the sabotage just days earlier.
Military patrols roam the streets, ensuring that citizens barricade their houses and hide in their basements with water and thick blankets. Merchants hurry to secure their goods indoors. The poor of the outer districts try to find shelter in one of the city's three underground bunkers, but the population has expanded faster than construction and the bunkers can hardly hold them all. Those who make it in hope that their houses are still there on their return, and those who don't knock on strangers' doors hoping for compassion.
In light of the anticipated severity of the storm, the Yazgur has declared the basements of the Palace and University as well as the city library's underground archives open for anyone until three hours past noon. Once the doors are locked, they will stay locked until the next morning.
