Open Ear and Open Heart
23 June - 20 July 2025
The Month of Frost is usually marked in Reluir by the festival of vagrant saint Eimhir - traditionally a time to travel and reunite with friends one rarely visits. It is said that sharing shelter with someone else on this day blesses the relationship with longevity, and sharing a story under it binds fates. With the prospect of visitors almost a given, families often bake small cakes and cookies to share - especially a triangular traveller's bread made of honey and almond called Eimhir's Ears.
Alas this year, the price of travel is too high for all but the most foolhardy of Relans - the fall of the Queendom has left the scarred roads unmaintained and rife with bandits. Still, people celebrate however they can in their own spheres of safety. Where the roads cannot be travelled, locals visit others in their own village instead to tell stories of kinder times. And where honey and almond are now distant luxuries, cakes of oats and millet are shared instead. As Saint Eimhir's stories tell - the world is cold and uncertain, but warmth can always be found.
