Secrets in the Fields

29 Mar - 11 Apr 2015

Something is afoot in the fields of Bratkowice. Spring is here, and normally, the southern domains should already be shipping their first crops. However, the blight that has insinuated its way across the country seems stronger this year than ever before - fewer carts have come than expected, and reports tell a grim tale of crop sickness, mutated vegetables and barren fields. Suspecting outside forces, perhaps the same that attempted to instigate rebellion in Bratkowice some years back, the Serdar has sent out an invitation to all Empire nations to help investigate, hidden behind an innocent potato-judging competition.

Held annually after the snow melts, the competition is accompanied by various games and contests, like pulling steam tractors across a field, or potato-bobbing. It is a good cover for the investigations, as the Bratkovans are slightly more accepting of foreigners during it. While most visitors come just for the entertainments (including the secret vodka-judging competition, if they can find it), some have been tasked by the Serdar - under oath of secrecy - with finding the cause of the blight or any clues as to the perpetrators.

You can complete this prompt either as a regular citizen visiting to enjoy the competition, or as an investigator using the competition as your cover.

Typical features: Potatoes of all shapes and sizes, games of skill or brawn, vodka, simple surroundings.
Typical colours: Brown, grey and green. For nobility, primarily black with accents of red and yellow - the red and yellow must never touch.
Special features (for the investigators): Mutated crops, barren fields, hints of magic use.
