Bratkowice

Bratkowice’s eponymous capital lies on a hill overlooking vast stretches of farmland. Centered around a large stone fortress, the walled city is a sturdy one built of dark stone and wood, although after a large fire a few years back most of the city is now made of stone. Small farming townships dot the Bratkovan landscape, connected to each other and the capital by well-traveled roads. Holds and fortresses perch on advantaged positions, keeping vigilant watch over the countryside.

Bratkovans are a similarly hard and stony people – they tend to be suspicious of foreigners, clannish, rugged and dutiful, and always have an opinion on the weather. The military tradition is strong here; many an eminent soldier has come from the Bratkovan soil. Those not in line to inherit a farm or other responsibilities often join the Foreign Corps, where they will receive an education and be able to travel the world while still serving their country.

Also strong is the song tradition. Minstrels are popular and plenty, and almost all locals are capable of singing the treasured songs of their people.
