Unravelling
27 Aug - 9 Sep 2017
Immense magics have torn both sides of Alva. Now, the fallout sweeps the entire world.
All over Alva from the 6th to 9th Harvest, people suddenly apparate from thin air. Word quickly gets out to Kingdom authorities - the Leywood expedition has vanished and the Ley Elk, Therras' own vessel, is murdered. Fear for loved ones grips the Kingdom, for many remain missing in faraway places.
As the Tree of Soloros ascends into the sky, virether roils and flares all around it. New trees burst from the ground, expanding the Leywood by acres overnight. Harvests all over the west continent swell to unnatural sizes and over-ripen too fast. Plants grow rampantly as far as Belport, and in Nisalvini the rehabilitating flora suddenly thrives - covering the island in wild, iridescent foliage. The black thorns resurge frighteningly too, but watchful locals are swift to quash them. Animals, Shamans and Druids can hardly sleep with the energy thrumming beneath their feet.
In stark contrast, plant growth in the Empire and Federation suddenly slows and goes into hibernation. A wave of icy ether rolls from the ravine in Wispwood, leaving night frosts as far as Koben and Linhythe, jarring against the summer heat. From the inky remnants of the colossal figure’s body, new wraiths rise up – finite in number now, but larger than ever before. A terrible coldness seeps from the ravine, freezing the landscape around it and making it unapproachable. Then, all over Alva, mana crystals inexplicably begin to lose power. Near the ravine, they dim and crumble into dust entirely, and nearby mines in Reluir are abandoned as their bounty vanishes.
Slowly, inexorably, the damaged fabric of the world begins to unravel.
