Iadlain is a small and isolated region that remains deeply immersed in magic despite the progression of the rest of the Empire. Nestled within the twisted forest of Wispwood, on land said to be scarred by Atros’ battles of old, Iadlain is home to both some of the Empire’s greatest mages and most vicious, eldritch creatures.
To survive the seclusion and dangers of the area, the Iadlish people have learned to be wary, selfish and self-sufficient, and are generally unfriendly and suspicious towards others, especially outsiders. Magical power is respected above all else and worship of the dark god Atros remains strong.
The number of dark elves in Iadlain is relatively high due to its proximity and shared history with the dark elvish capital of Reluir, though many set themselves apart from their old Relan kin.

In the oldest centre of Iadlain, a grove of ancient trees and buildings still stands. Reprising its original role, the Birch Nest acts as the lifeblood of survivors, providing crucial support to scattered warriors and defenders. Couriers known as 'birch birds' risk life and limb to bring food, medicine and news wherever needed, and retrieve the injured for healing.

Surviving in Wispwood is far from easy. Founded by a now extinct Old Clan, Sionnath's Teeth is a mercenary guild dedicated to dangerous but necessary work. Contracts range from hunting monsters to exterminating spirits around the capital, though jobs can take them around the country. Injury and fatality rates are unsurprisingly high, but the work pays well in both coin and adrenaline.
